My heart will forever lie with social dancing. I decided in early 2022 to go on a mission to document the joy and beauty that is experienced on the social dance floor. While sometimes the lighting of a night club makes getting the perfect shot a challenge, it’s a challenge I approach with joy and excitement. I think of photographing a dance as a form of candid portraiture. It’s an opportunity to capture a moment in time when a dancer is in their happy place, enjoying the music, the connection and the art of dance.

I love visiting new communities of swing, salsa, tango and ballroom dancers and photographing the joy the partner dancing brings to all of us.

By starting to shoot photos of my students dancing at events I host I have seen a lot more engagement with the community and the attendance at all my events have gone way up.
